Assessment Process: What to Expect
📋 Before the Assessment
•Parents, schools, and individuals complete questionnaires about background, education, and current needs.
•These must be returned at least 14 days before the assessment date.
🕒 During the Assessment
The session lasts around 3 hours, with breaks included to keep the student comfortable.
What We Assess
During the assessment, we explore a range of areas to understand your child’s learning profile, including:
Phonological awareness (how sounds are processed)
Reading accuracy, fluency and comprehensionSpelling and written expression
Working memory and processing speed
Cognitive ability (verbal and non-verbal reasoning) This ensures we look at the whole child, not just their difficulties and provide balanced recommendations.
After the Assessment
You will receive:A detailed written report
A formal diagnosis of dyslexia (if criteria are met)
A summary of your child’s strengths and barriers to learning
Tailored recommendations for school and home.
📍 Where Assessments Take Place
In‑person assessments are held in my home office in Chorlton or alternatively at the school or home of the student.
📝 Booking an Assessment
Assessments cost £500
Suitable for children 8-18

A £100 deposit secures your date, with the balance due 7 days before the assessment.
As a qualified assessor with a current Assessment Practising Certificate (APC), reports can be used as evidence when applying for Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) at university.
